Founded in 1990 by Robert Klein, Safeguard Properties today is an industry leader in mortgage default field services, dedicated to the inspection and preservation of vacant and foreclosed properties across the United States. As one of the most successful mortgage default field services companies in the nation, Safeguard’s extensive network of trusted vendors provides unparalleled property inspection, maintenance and repair services to banks and mortgage servicers.
The Klein, Jaffa, and Halpern families had the vision to start SCG Partners in 2014 to capitalize on the decades of innovation and expertise of Safeguard, while also providing diversification from the economic cycles. Building upon Safeguard’s legacy and leadership, we’re able to deliver world-class resources to our partnerships, from advanced IT infrastructure to strong business relationships and deep operational expertise. We’re also well-equipped to help these businesses navigate an ever-evolving landscape through the challenges and triumphs that Safeguard has faced over the years on its journey to becoming a billion-dollar company.

Our landscaping platform,
Down to Earth Landscape & Irrigation, was the first investment we made in 2015. Down to Earth offers full-service landscape maintenance, irrigation, golf course maintenance, and landscape construction services to high end communities, residences, resorts and commercial properties across Florida. The company has nearly quadrupled revenue since the start of our partnership and has integrated more than 20 add-on acquisitions.

Safeguard Insurance Services,
a partnership that began in 2021, initially provided outsourced underwriting inspection services for single-family homes regionally in the New England market. Leveraging Safeguard’s national capabilities, Safeguard Insurance Services has expanded nationally and serves several of the country’s largest insurance companies. In addition, SCG acquired an additional company in the industry to serve the commercial sector, resulting in even greater avenues for expansion.
Eden App, a Toronto-based provider of snow removal, lawn maintenance and landscaping, offers on-demand and subscription services through a web/mobile app. Eden’s innovative solution saves customers from the headaches of sourcing reliable vendors and handling payments on their own. Their unique approach paired with our support has helped Eden expand into new cities and offer additional services.
We have a long history of innovative entrepreneurship. The owners of Safeguard founded
MFS Supply, a Cleveland-based company originally established to provide lockboxes, locksets and deadbolts to Safeguard vendors. Today, they’ve grown to become a nationwide supplier of not only products for property preservation, fix & flippers, and real estate agents but also cabinets and countertops to the multifamily and apartment market, building upon the network and knowledge of SCG and Safeguard to reach new heights.
Our investments represent more than just capital: we offer our entrepreneur partners, often fellow family founders, resources and support to transform and grow in a way that adds value without being disruptive.
